Chelsea fans should show Jose Mourinho more respect - Ray Wilkins

Chelsea fans should show Jose Mourinho more respect, Ray Wilkins has told Sky Sports.

Wilkins said Mourinho was "No. 1" at Stamford Bridge after winning seven major trophies in two spells with the club.

Sections of the Chelsea crowd taunted Mourinho as his Manchester United side were beaten 1-0 in the FA Cup quarterfinals on Monday.

Mourinho then showed three fingers to the crowd to show the number of Premier League titles he won as Chelsea manager.

Fourth official Mike Jones then had to separate current Chelsea manager Antonio Conte and Mourinho after they had an exchange on the touchline.

And former Chelsea player and coach Wilkins said: "I just wish our Chelsea supporters, and I'm a Chelsea supporter, showed a little bit more class to Jose Mourinho.

"If we actually remember what he's done for our club, he's worked miracles there.

"He's a good bloke but he's a football man and he wants his club to win.

"I just thought the other night against Manchester United they didn't show him the respect he merits.

"There's no one that can touch him at the moments. Jose will be No. 1 until somebody wins as many trophies as him."

Wilkins said the touchline confrontation between the two coaches "was just a conflict of interests, they just had a row and these things happen."
