Antonio Conte, N'Golo Kante win London Football Awards

LONDON -- Antonio Conte and N'Golo Kante were named London Manager and Premier League Player of the Year respectively as Chelsea's spectacular resurgence this season was recognised at the London Football Awards.

The Italian, whose Chelsea side enjoy a 10-point lead at the top of the Premier League, saw off competition from Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino, Millwall boss Neil Harris, Fulham's Slavisa Jokanovic and Neal Ardley of AFC Wimbledon to claim the award in his first season in England.

Kante, meanwhile, was rewarded for his remarkable consistency for Leicester City and Chelsea by winning the Player of the Year gong ahead of teammate Diego Costa, as well as Arsenal star Alexis Sanchez and Tottenham pair Danny Rose and Dele Alli, who was instead named London Young Player of the Year.

It was also a night to remember for Frank Lampard, who was presented with a special award to mark his outstanding contribution to London Football.

The 38-year-old announced his retirement last month, having won 11 major trophies in 13 years at Chelsea and becoming the club's all-time top goalscorer. He is the second Blues legend to receive the award in as many years, after former teammate John Terry was honoured in 2016.

Thibaut Courtois was pipped by Tottenham captain Hugo Lloris for the London Goalkeeper of the Year award, while Fulham midfielder Tom Cairney claimed the EFL Player of the Year. Arsenal midfielder Jordan Nobbs was named London Women's Player of the Year.

The awards were handed out at a glitzy ceremony at Battersea Evolution.
