Antonio Conte: Chelsea league and cup Double 'will be very difficult'

Antonio Conte says Chelsea are setting their sights on achieving an historic Double by winning the Premier League and FA Cup this season, but the coach warned it will be "difficult" to fulfill their ambitions in both competitions.

Goals from Pedro Rodriguez and Diego Costa saw Chelsea book their place in the FA Cup quarterfinals with a 2-0 win over a stubborn Wolverhampton Wanderers at Molineux on Saturday, and the Blues will now turn their attentions back to the Premier League, where they enjoy an eight-point lead over nearest rivals Manchester City.

Carlo Ancelotti is the only manager in Chelsea's history to win the Premier League and FA Cup in the same season, but Conte has revealed that he wants to emulate his countryman -- though he believes Wolves' spirited performance provides further evidence of the scale of the challenge.

Asked about the possibility of doing the Double, Conte said in his postmatch news conference: "It will be difficult. In England, in the league and in every competition, there doesn't exist an easy game. I repeat this because it is true.

"In the league we are doing and great job in staying on top of the table and now we are in the FA Cup quarterfinal and I am pleased for this, but after this game it is important to understand that nothing is easy. It will be very difficult to win both competitions but we want to try to win some trophies."

Speaking to BT Sport, he added: "I hear a lot that Chelsea [already] won the league. This is not true and we must pay attention, because we must fight for 13 games and to have the will to fight, to win is very important."

Chelsea, featuring seven changes to the starting XI that drew against Burnley last weekend, were kept on the back foot for much of the first half as Wolves pressed high and hard at Molineux, but managed to pick apart their Championship opponents after the break as energy levels dipped and mistakes increased.

"I think it was very difficult for Wolves to continue to play with this high intensity, and in the second half they paid a bit for this effort," Conte added. "After the first half where we suffered a bit, in the second half we scored two goals, created chances to win the game and deserved to win it."

The draw for the FA Cup quarterfinals will be made on Sunday and could pair Chelsea with Lincoln City, who became the first non-league club to reach the last eight of the competition for 103 years after recording a shock 1-0 win over Burnley at Turf Moor.

"It is a great achievement for them," Conte said of Lincoln. "They deserve a great compliment from me, from Chelsea and the whole country. It is a fantastic story. The beauty of football and the FA Cup. In Italy, I think it is impossible to happen."
