Tammy Abraham accepts he may have to prove himself away from Chelsea

Tammy Abraham says he wants to be one of the best strikers in the Premier League within three years, but is prepared for the possibility that he may have to earn that status away from Chelsea.

Abraham, 19, who joined Bristol City on loan in the summer after scoring 74 goals in 98 games at youth level for Chelsea, has netted nine times in 16 Championship appearances this season and broken into the England under-21 squad.

The teenager's form has not gone unnoticed at Stamford Bridge, and last month Antonio Conte hailed Abraham as "the future for Chelsea," while there is growing excitement among supporters about the rapid development of their academy graduate.

"In three years I want to be playing at the top level, at whichever team I'm at," Abraham told Squawka. "I just want to be one of the best in the Premier League, scoring goals. I'm not too surprised with how it's gone this season because I know my ability and I'm confident in what I can do.

"Scoring goals is what I love and it gives me that confidence every time I hit the net. I knew what I was going out on loan for when the deal was agreed [with Bristol City] and I had to get into the right mentality.

"I'm playing men's football now and just needed to adapt to the situation. Luckily I've been doing that. I've been performing on the pitch, and giving my all."

Abraham joined the Chelsea academy at the age of seven and played alongside first-team prospects Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Ola Aina and Dominic Solanke in youth teams that won consecutive UEFA Youth Leagues and FA Youth Cups in 2015 and 2016.
