John Terry on bench for Chelsea, Leicester rest Mahrez and Slimani

John Terry was on the bench as Chelsea boss Antonio Conte kept faith with his 3-4-3 formation against Leicester City, while Claudio Ranieri rests Riyad Mahrez and Islam Slimani.

Chelsea captain Terry suffered an injury in the 2-2 draw with Swansea on Sept. 11 and missed the Premier League defeats to Liverpool and Arsenal as well as the 2-0 win over Hull, when Conte started with his new formation.

Terry has not been included in the starting XI, with Cesar Azpilicueta, David Luiz and Gary Cahill preferred at the back, and Conte makes just one change, with Pedro replacing Willian, who is absent following the death of his mother.

N'Golo Kante also starts the game at Stamford Bridge as he faces Leicester for the first time since his departure in the summer.

Speaking in the programme ahead of the match, Conte -- who laughed off speculation over his future on Friday -- said he was happy with his tactical changes.

He wrote: "I am pleased with the mentality of the squad. We had disappointing results against Liverpool and Arsenal but we are working hard to improve and to move forward.

"At Hull, we did a lot of good things and the players showed they have the understanding to change things when we need to. Now we know we have another tactical solution and this is important.

"We knew we had work to do this season, and we are progressing so we must continue on the right road."

Asked about the 3-4-3 formation before the game, Chelsea winger Pedro told Sky Sports: "It's a new system for us but it's good for the team."

On how the new formation affects him, goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois told Chelsea's official website on Saturday: "It's a bit different but you have to adapt. We work a lot on these things in training and for Belgium we've been playing three at the back as well so that helps.

"You just need to get used to how it works but I think it has a lot of advantages and hopefully it will benefit us again in the future if we play that way."

Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri had said this week that he could rotate his side for the trip to Chelsea and makes three changes.

Ahmed Musa, Jeffrey Schlupp and Luis Hernandez all come into the starting lineup, with Mahrez, Slimani and Danny Simpson all dropping to the bench.

"We thought a lot about the team," Ranieri said ahead of the game. "After recent games, we looked a little tired. So changes today. I trust the players."

He added: "The test from Chelsea today is their players, not their formation. We have to press and be fast in the counter attack."
