Eden Hazard: Chelsea must work harder defensively as a team

Chelsea midfielder Eden Hazard says his side must improve defensively after seeing their 100 percent start to the Premier League season slip at Swansea City on Sunday.

Chelsea dropped two points behind leaders Manchester City following their 2-2 draw at the Liberty Stadium, coming from behind to seal the draw via Diego Costa's magnificent overhead kick nine minutes from time.

After he and his teammates failed to keep a clean sheet for the third time in four top-flight outings this term, Hazard admitted there is still much work to be done to make Chelsea a formidable prospect for opponents at both ends of the pitch.

"It's still a good start to the season," the 25-year-old told SFR Sport. "We had had three games, three wins. We've played some good stuff. We've scored goals. We scored them again today, but also conceded them. Apart from before the international break, we have conceded goals. We have always conceded one or two goals, which is a shame.

"It's up to us to work harder defensively to be more solid, and to score more goals to put on more of a show and win matches."

Costa took his tally to four goals in as many Premier League appearances this season. However, the Spain international also picked up his third yellow card of the campaign and was accused by some for simulating a foul in the minutes before scoring Chelsea's equaliser but referee Andre Marriner did not take any action, sparing the striker a second booking and subsequent red card.

Despite Costa's continued ability to court controversy, Hazard said the 27-year-old still has the full backing of his teammates.

"We love him, that's the most important thing," Hazard said.

"We love him, he's very important for us. He scores important goals. He's a great player, a great goal scorer, and we're very happy to play with him."
