Chelsea attacker Oscar: I can do more for the team in a 4-3-3 formation

Oscar says he hopes Chelsea manager Antonio Conte will keep faith with the 4-3-3 system that saw his side put four goals past Werder Bremen.

For much of preseason Conte, whose side begin their Premier League campaign against West Ham on Monday, has used two strikers in a 4-4-2/4-2-4 system.

But the Italian opted to start Diego Costa as a lone striker in Sunday's 4-2 victory over the Bundesliga side, with summer signing N'Golo Kante shielding the Chelsea defence and Eden Hazard and Willian operating as attacking wingers.

Costa, Hazard and Oscar all scored as Chelsea played some flowing football, and the Brazilian playmaker believes he has more freedom to make an all-round contribution in a three-man midfield.

"We [Costa, Hazard and Oscar] like to play together," he told Chelsea's official website.

"Every time when we have the ball we come close together to try and link up and create something. This is good for the team and for us.

"We played much better than Werder Bremen, and we deserved to score more goals. We missed a lot of chances but it was good because the team created a lot.

"I think we have played better with the 4-3-3 than when we have played 4-2-4, but we have two formations and always we try our best.

"I like playing in a 4-3-3 because I can score more goals and also create more and tackle in midfield, which I like to do to help the team."

Oscar will be competing with Nemanja Matic, Cesc Fabregas and Ruben Loftus-Cheek for a starting place when Chelsea welcome West Ham to Stamford Bridge.

The Brazilian said he was happy with his form after scoring three goals in two friendly matches against Werder and AC Milan.

"I am feeling good," he added. "We are ready, and now we are all just looking forward to starting the season."
