Chelsea boss Antonio Conte: Juan Cuadrado fits my idea of football

Chelsea boss Antonio Conte has insisted he wants to keep Juan Cuadrado at the club, saying he fits his "idea of football."

The Colombia international failed to live up to expectations during his first six months at Stamford Bridge, and was shipped out to Juventus on loan for the 2015-16 season.

Conte was keen on signing Cuadrado during his own stint at Juventus, and is now grateful that he's amongst his current playing staff.

Cuadrado was a 67th-minute substitute vs Liverpool on Thursday, and Conte revealed he's delighted with his choices on the wing.

"With Juan Cuadrado, in my idea of football I love the role of the winger when doing a one-vs.-one," Conte said. "Cuadrado is one of these.

"I am pleased to train him and when today you can have a substitution of Cuadrado and Pedro to replace Willian and Moses, it is good for Chelsea. Cuadrado is a Chelsea player and I hope he remains one."

Gary Cahill's early header was enough for Chelsea to record a 1-0 win over Liverpool in the International Champions Cup, but the main talking point was Cesc Fabregas' red card for a foul on Ragnar Klavan.
