Eva Carneiro to work in Gibraltar in first role since leaving Chelsea

Eva Carneiro will begin her first new job since leaving Chelsea at a specialist medical clinic in Gibraltar on Thursday.

Carneiro, 42, has been out of work since leaving her role as first-team doctor at Stamford Bridge under a cloud last year, and is still pursuing claims of constructive dismissal against Chelsea and sex discrimination against former manager Jose Mourinho.

"Gibraltarian Sports Physician Doctor, Eva Carneiro [formerly of Chelsea Football Club, Olympic Medical Institute, and England's Women Football] will be working at the Specialist Medical clinic on Thursday 31st March," a release on the clinic's official Facebook page read.

"As Sports Medicine and Exercise Medicine Consultant Doctor Eva specialises in the treatment of athletes and other physically active individuals.

"Sports and Exercise medicine physicians have extensive education in musculoskeletal medicine. She is able to treat injuries such as muscle, ligament, tendon and bone problems, but may also treat chronic illnesses that can affect physical performance, such as asthma and diabetes.

"Dr Carneiro will also advise on managing and preventing injuries, Sports and exercise nutrition, supplementation and performance enhancement."

Mourinho branded Carneiro and head physio Jon Fearn "impulsive and naive" for running onto the pitch to treat Eden Hazard during the closing stages of Chelsea's 2-2 draw with Swansea City in August, and subsequently demoted the pair from first-team duties. Fearn returned to the bench for the first time since the incident in the Blues' 2-2 draw with West Ham earlier this month.

Carneiro launched separate but connected legal claims against Chelsea and Mourinho in November, and at a private hearing at London South Employment Tribunal earlier this month Mary O'Rourke QC revealed her client was seeking a public apology from Mourinho as well as financial compensation for her treatment.

If no settlement between all parties can be reached, the case is set for a public tribunal on June 6 where witnesses can be called and emails and text messages will also be disclosed.
