Chelsea midfielder Charly Musonda eyes loan move from Stamford Bridge

Chelsea teenager Charly Musonda looks set to leave Stamford Bridge on loan in January after appearing to confirm that a move away from the club was in the works.

Musonda, 19, who shone in Chelsea's UEFA Youth League and FA Youth Cup-winning sides last season, signed a new four-year contract in March but has yet to make his senior debut under Jose Mourinho.

"Enjoyed playing youth football at Chelsea by winning titles and creating some unforgettable memories in the process," the midfielder wrote in an Instagram post on his official account that was later deleted, alongside a montage of trophy celebration pictures.

"It's now time to take the next step to continue my progression on loan and develop furthermore towards becoming one of the very best one day at Chelsea. With hard work and dedication I believe I can, and I'm very excited."

The son of former Anderlecht midfielder and Zambia international Charly Musonda Sr. did not join fellow Chelsea youth stars Dominic Solanke, Isaiah Brown, Jeremie Boga and others in leaving on loan last summer, despite his father's insistence that he needed to play regular first-team football.

"He must absolutely leave Chelsea and, since January, Monaco have been trying to sign him," he was reported as saying by the Daily Telegraph.

"Monaco are not alone but they truly want him. Chelsea want Charly to play in a good team in a big league. He must play for a first team. He progresses every day, but he must develop further."
