Pedro Rodriguez happy with additional playing time at Chelsea

Chelsea forward Pedro Rodriguez says he's happy to see more game time at Stamford Bridge after his move from boyhood club Barcelona in the summer.

Pedro, 28, made the decision to leave Spain after 11 years at the Camp Nou after spending most of his time on the bench behind Barcelona's star attacking trio of Lionel Messi, Neymar and Luis Suarez.

But after starting five league games and a Champions League tie already for Chelsea, Pedro told the Spain national team's website that the adding playing time making him a better overall player,

"When someone gets to play, they gain rhythm, confidence, you're happier, you try out more things," Pedro said. "Leaving Barca was tough for me but I'm happy with the change."

Pedro also said that playing alongside fellow Spain internationals Cesc Fabregas, Diego Costa and Cesar Azpilicueta has helped him adapt to the Premier League.

"They've been a great support to me," he said. "The adaptation has been quicker given I already knew them from here and they've treated me very well in the dressing room, showing me how the club works."

Spain would wrap up qualification to Euro 2016 with a win over Luxembourg on Friday, and Pedro said La Roja are back on the right path after a dismal performance at the World Cup last year.

"Obviously we know that we weren't our best at the World Cup, we didn't give a good account of ourselves," he said.

"But I think in the qualifying matches for the European Championships... the team has shown a new image and that's the way to go."
