Chelsea unveil stadium model of new 60,000-seater Stamford Bridge

Chelsea have revealed a model of their new stadium that is proposed to replace Stamford Bridge.

Premier League champions Chelsea currently play their home matches at Stamford Bridge, which has been the club's ground since their formation in 1905.

The current capacity of the stadium is just over 41,000, which is considerably less than the likes of Arsenal (60,260) and Manchester United (75,653).

The Daily Mail reports that a new 60,000-seater ground is planned for completion by 2020 and would cost £500 million.

The newspaper says the club would have to vacate their existing home from the 2017-18 season for three years during the redevelopment works, with Wembley mooted as a potential temporary venue.

In 2013, Chelsea's hopes of building a new super-stadium on the site of the Earls Court Exhibition Centre were dashed, after the local council granted planning permission for more than 7,500 new homes on the site.
