John Terry wants 'a few more years yet' at Chelsea

Chelsea captain John Terry has hinted the he wants to extend his career by "a few more years yet" after he played in every minute of his side's Premier League title success this season.

Terry signed a one-year contract extension with Chelsea in March, as he was rewarded for some impressive performances at the heart of a defensive line that provided Jose Mourinho's side with a platform to win the Premier League and the Capital One Cup.

Yet he had already set his sights on remaining with the club well beyond the summer of 2016.

At the age of 34, Terry has hinted that he has considered playing out the final days of his career in MLS like his former Chelsea teammate Frank Lampard, but that may have to wait.

"I am hoping that is going to continue for a few more years yet," he said on Chelsea's postseason tour in Australia. "I am hoping to finish my career at Chelsea and I hope I can do that under this manager.

"I was delighted to play every single minute of the Premier League season. Especially as at my age you tend to get written off as well. So it was nice on a personal note to play in all of the games.

"I don't know what my fitness is down to, but the manager and the staff played a big part in the way we train.

"I feel I've also benefited from the couple days rest during the international breaks. So the manager and staff deserve a lot of credit, and me also for staying fit and keeping my form and place in the side."

Terry has now won 14 major trophies during his enduring spell at Chelsea, with the latest with this season's Premier League title.
