Chelsea's Willian has vowed to fight new signing Andres Cuadrado for a place in the side. (0:40)

Chelsea attacker Willian has vowed to fight for his place in Jose Mourinho's starting XI following the arrival of Juan Cuadrado on transfer deadline day.

Cuadrado, 26, signed from Fiorentina for 35 million euros on Feb. 2 soon after the sale of forward Andre Schurrle to Wolfsburg, with Egyptian winger Mohamed Salah also leaving Chelsea for a loan spell at La Viola.

Willian's role in the right-sided attacking role of Mourinho's preferred 4-2-3-1 formation is under threat from Colombia international Cuadrado, but the 26-year-old Brazilian is confident he will keep his starting spot for the Premier League leaders.

"Sure, competition for a place in the squad grows. But I will always fight for my place," Willian told Perform.

"As I said, I can't ever feel comfortable otherwise another player comes and takes my position. I need always to improve and that is why I work hard to try and keep my place in the squad. All good.

"He did his first training today, we spoke with him who looks like a calm boy, a good guy. We hope he can be happy with us here in Chelsea."

Willian has featured in all but one of Chelsea's 23 league games so far this season, and believes he is in the best form of his life.

"I think this is the best moment of my career," the former Shakhtar winger added. "I've been improving, developing my game.

"I am very happy for playing in such a club like Chelsea, which was my dream, having the opportunity of playing in a big league, the English league.

"I came to Chelsea for winning titles and we are close to it this year.

"So I think I am in a good moment, and I put in my head that I can't never feel comfortable, even when I would become a regular don't feel comfortable and try always to improve more."
