Worrall: Blues' indiscipline

Mourinho entered the field of play after Ramires was shown a straight red card for a challenge on Karim El Ahmadi close to both benches.

The Portuguese coach briefly spoke to referee Chris Foy before being sent to the stands, and later blamed the official for his handling of the match.

A statement on the FA website read: "Jose Mourinho has been charged by The FA following his side’s game against Aston Villa on Saturday March 15 2014.

"It is alleged the Chelsea manager's behaviour in re-entering the field of play in or around the 90th minute of the fixture and approaching the Match Referee amounted to improper conduct.

"Mourinho has until 6pm on March 24 2014 to respond to the charge."
