Mourinho 'happy' with Chelsea squad

Brazilian midfielder Willian reveals that Champions League football and the Jose Mourinho factor helped him choose Chelsea over Tottenham Hotspur

Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho believes the signing of Samuel Eto’o gives him the perfect balance in his forward line, despite his failure to land his chief transfer target in the summer transfer window.

• Lythell: Lukaku loan leaves Chelsea fans scratching their heads

After missing out on Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney, Mourinho blocked a move from Arsenal to sign Demba Ba, opting instead to loan Romelu Lukaku to Everton, leaving him with the former Newcastle striker, Eto’o and Fernando Torres as his trio of experienced hit-men.

"Samuel is a very experienced striker as everybody knows, and a winner," Mourinho told Chelsea TV.

"He is a guy who in spite of winning everything, he never lost his desire to win. He comes to England with the same objective with which I went to Spain. He wants to be the first one to win the Spanish, the Italian and the English league as a player, and he always wanted to play in the Premier League so he comes with big motivation.

"He is different from Torres. Torres is different from Ba and Ba is different from Eto’o, so we have in these three strikers experience and different qualities.

"Overall, the squad is good, it is good. We have two players per position with three strikers and one extra midfield player. Every position is covered and we are very happy with what we have."

Mourinho went on to urge Chelsea supporters to give Willian time to settle at Stamford Bridge, as he confirmed the Brazilian signed from Anzhi Makhachkala needs to prove his worth in a major European league.

"He was too many years in Ukraine and in Russia and now he has his first chance to be in a big championship," stated Mourinho of the 25-year-old.

"Again he is a kid that wanted very much to play for Chelsea, but I believe he will need a bit of time to express himself."
