Brendan Rodgers' Celtic beat 50-year-old unbeaten run record

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers saw his side break a 50-year club record with their 4-0 win over Hearts at Parkhead on Sunday.

Goals from Callum McGregor, Scott Sinclair (two) and Patrick Roberts extended Celtic's unbeaten domestic run since the start of the season to 27 games, one more than Jock Stein's side of 1966-67, who won the European Cup and every other competition they entered.

And former Liverpool boss Rodgers, whose side are 22 points clear of second-placed Rangers, has challenged his players to keep on winning.

He said: "We're very proud but I said to them again, setting the challenge going forward, we just have to keep winning and that comes from our work on a day-to-day basis, our concentration and just making sure we take care of all the background noise that goes on around it.

"Just focus on our football and our job in the team. The players were magnificent at that.

"It's a huge honour (when you consider) the history of this club, 129 years, and how difficult that is.

"It's an incredible run the players are on, but every accolade they get they deserve, because of the focus and spirit fostered within the team and the quality of the football they produce."
