Deila confident of Celtic CL success

Ronny Deila concedes that Celtic's Champions League qualifying opponents Legia Warsaw are a step up in class from KR Reykjavik in the previous round but he believes they have enough quality to take another step towards the group stages of the competition.

The Scottish champions turned in a fine performance in beating the Iceland side 4-0 at Murrayfield last Tuesday ease through to the third qualifier on a 5-0 aggregate.

Deila is not taking the Polish side lightly ahead of the first-leg at the Pepsi Arena but is confident that his side will have enough to get through.

"They are a good team and it is a huge step up compared to Reykjavik," said the Norwegian, who added new loan singing, Jo Inge Berget, to his squad for the trip to Poland.

"It is going to be two fantastic games.

"But we are improving all the time. The tempo in the training and matches has gone up so we are getting fitter and we know each other better.

"So I know we are going to put in a good performance tonight and I am comfortable that we can be good enough to beat Legia."

Norwegian international Berget completed a six-month loan deal from Cardiff City on Monday and went straight into the Hoops squad.

The 23-year-old former Molde forward played for Deila at Norwegian club Stromsgodset and is happy to play 'anywhere up front', and it is that versatility which the Parkhead boss believes is crucial at this point in the season.

Deila said -- "I know Jo Inge from the past, we worked together at Stromsgodset.

"He is a very intelligent player, he is a player who knows my systems, he can play all the four forward positions -- the two wings, the number ten and number nine.

"So I am comfortable and I know he will bring something new to the team."

Legia Warsaw manager Henning Berg, who played for the Parkhead side's traditional rivals Rangers a decade ago, claimed to be envious of Celtic.

"Celtic are a little bit further ahead of us as a club," he said.

"We would like to be in Celtic's position and that is something we strive to do.

"Be able to compete in Europe every year and sell players for the money they sell players, and buy players for the money they buy players.

"That is our goal."
