Celtic complete Teemu Pukki signing

Celtic have confirmed the signing of Teemu Pukki from Schalke on a four-year contract.

Teemu Pukki has joined Celtic on a four-year contract.
Teemu Pukki has scored six goals in 24 appearances for Finland.

The Finland international, 23, is a replacement for Gary Hooper who joined Norwich during the summer, and manager Neil Lennon says that Celtic have been tracking him for some time.

"He's a player we've liked for quite a while," Lennon said. "We like his style of play, I think he'll suit us. His first touch is excellent.

"He's a similar size to Gary. He may not bring the weight of goals Gary did but I know for a fact he'll make us a better team.

"I watched him against Slovenia a couple of weeks ago in Finland and he was excellent -- and that's at international level.

"He can play the lone striker, he can play with a partner. He's got so many facets to his game."

Pukki’s arrival comes hot on the heels of the signing of Israeli midfielder Nir Biton, who has also committed to the Scottish champions for the next four years.

Both signings were made following Celtic’s qualification for the Champions League, but Lennon has said that adding to his squad has been hard to do.

''We've been looking everywhere, all over the world, really -- South America, Canada, places like that and sometimes it's very difficult to do deals,'' he said.

''Sometimes you think you're there and then the price goes up, another agent gets involved and you end up talking to three different agents. It just becomes a bit of a muddle.

''We do our business cleanly, simply and quickly, but sometimes that can't be the case. I think there's money there to spend, it's just about trying to get the right player in for the right price.''
