Bulgaria international Aleksandar Tonev has told Celtic he hopes a move can be “organised this summer”.

Tonev, 23, claimed he had the option to move to Italy last summer with Lazio and Fiorentina reportedly the sides interested in his services. But the Lech Poznan winger would prefer a move to Scotland where he can develop his game in the Champions League.

"It's an honour to know Celtic are interested in me," Tonev told the Daily Record. "They have a big history and their performance in Europe this year has shown they are ready to create some new history.

"Last summer there were Italian teams interested and even though Serie A is one of the top leagues it's important for me I consistently play Champions League football. Celtic is somewhere I could achieve that. I just concentrate on playing. Hopefully a move can be organised this summer."

With two years remaining on his current deal it is believed a fee of around £2 million could secure the services of Tonev.
