Carpi rehire Fabrizio Castori five weeks after sacking him

Serie A strugglers Carpi have dismissed coach Giuseppe Sannino and appointed former boss Fabrizio Castori as his replacement, the club announced on Tuesday.

Under Sannino, who replaced Castori at the helm of Carpi in September, the Biancorossi have mustered just four points from five games and lie at the foot of the standings after 11 rounds played.

A statement from the club read: "Carpi FC 1909 announces it has released Giuseppe Sannino from his duties as first team coach.

"The club also wishes to announce that Fabrizio Castori will take over as coach of the first team and will hold his first training session this afternoon."

Carpi, who are playing in Italy's top flight for the first time this season, drew 0-0 at home to Hellas Verona on Sunday.

They have won just once and lost seven of their 11 games so far.

Castori led Capri to an historic promotion last season before being sacked shortly after his team's 5-1 defeat at Roma on Sept. 26.

Carpi have clinched just one point on the road and visit Sassuolo on Sunday afternoon.
