Mexico international Carlos Vela has again been linked with a move to MLS side Colorado Rapids by his own agent Eduardo Hernandez.

Real Sociedad attacker Vela, 26, has often been rumoured to be interested in a move to play in the United States, with sources this autumn telling ESPN FC that the Rapids had a "right of first refusal" on his signing although salary demands may be an issue.

Now Hernandez has suggested to TV show Agenda Fox Sports that he and his client are interested in talking to the Colorado team, while stopping short of saying a move was sure to happen.

"In the case of Carlos Vela, we are waiting to see what might happen," Hernandez said. "With the MLS they can, we can say, put down a marker when they see a player which they like, and tell the league that they have the right of first refusal if he is coming in. That is what has happened with Colorado Rapids and Carlos Vela, they have the right to be in there, a right that can be transferred to another club. We want to listen them, but I don't want to say he will definitely leave [Real Sociedad]."

Vela joined La Real permanently from Arsenal for a fee of around €11 million in summer 2014, having scored 15 La Liga goals the previous year, following from totals of 14 and 12 in the previous two campaigns.

Recently things have not gone so well for Vela at Anoeta -- he scored just five times in La Liga during 2014-15 and has just two goals in 12 appearances so far this term.

"MLS has worked hard to improve and you can't deny that the league's infrastructure is very good, with good stadiums, nor can you hide the fact that the quality of life is extraordinary," Hernandez said. "Competitively, the growth can be seen. Each time a Mexican club plays against one from the United States, we see that it is not so easy to beat them. We saw how tough it was for America to get to the Club World Cup."

Hernandez hinted that Vela would be happier closer to home.

"Carlos has been playing in Europe for 10 years, far from his family and that is why the United States is an alternative but that doesn't mean that Carlos Vela's immediate future is there," Hernandez said. "It could be now or in two years or maybe three, we don't really know. There is much to consider, but we are of the thought that no doors should be closed. We don't want to limit Carlos' options and that is why we are listening."
