Neil Warnock agrees to sign new deal and stay as Cardiff City manager

Neil Warnock is to remain as manager of Championship club Cardiff City after agreeing to sign a contract for next season.

Warnock's deal with the Welsh club had been due to expire in the summer but after inspiring an upturn in their fortunes, lifting them comfortably clear of the relegation zone, he has agreed to stay.

Cardiff announced that the 68-year-old's decision had come after "positive talks," and the new deal could be signed within the next 24 hours.

Reports suggested that Warnock had wanted assurances over transfer policy before committing to a new contract.

He told BBC Wales that he would be at the club "as long as the fans want me" and added: "If they want me, then I'm doing a good job."
