Cardiff City head of football Russell Slade leaves post after just weeks

Russell Slade has left his position as Cardiff's head of football with immediate effect after less than a month in the role.

Slade, 55, was removed as manager in May to take the new position in a backroom reshuffle at the Cardiff City Stadium, with Paul Trollope appointed as the club's head coach.

The former Leyton Orient manager joined the Bluebirds in October 2014 when he replaced Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

He guided the Welsh outfit to 11th, and then steered them to eighth the following season before being moved upstairs.

Slade managed Scarborough, Grimsby, Yeovil and Brighton before joining Orient in 2010.

He has been linked with the vacant manager's position at League One Charlton.
