Holders Man City to face Wednesday

Manchester City are the current holders of the Capital One Cup.

Capital One Cup holders Manchester City will begin their defence of the trophy with a home tie against Sheffield Wednesday.

City saw off Sunderland in last year's final as Manuel Pellegrini secured his first piece of silverware in England.

And the Chilean's side have now been handed a third-round tie against Championship outfit Wednesday.

Elsewhere, Liverpool -- the winners of the trophy in 2012 -- will kick off their campaign at home to Middlesbrough.

MK Dons' reward for seeing off Manchester United in the second round is a tie against Bradford, who lost in the 2013 final to Swansea.

FA Cup holders Arsenal, meanwhile, play host to Southampton, while Chelsea welcome Bolton to Stamford Bridge.

The third-round ties are due to be played on Sept. 23 and 24.
