MK Dons to host Wimbledon

Milton Keynes Dons have been drawn at home to AFC Wimbledon in the first round draw for the Capital One Cup.

There is no love lost, certainly for AFC fans, after the original Wimbledon team was uprooted and moved to Milton Keynes in September 2003 before the name of the club was changed for the 2004-05 season.

Remarkably, it is the third time in four years that the two clubs have been drawn against each other in cup competitions. In 2010, they looked set to meet in the FA Cup second round but MK Dons lost to Stevenage in a first-round replay. But they did meet in December 2012, again in the FA Cup second round, when MK Dons won 2-1 at Stadium:MK.

Newly promoted Cambridge United have been drawn to face 2011 winners Birmingham City. Richard Money's side, who won promotion to League Two with a Conference playoff final victory over Gateshead, will travel to St Andrew's.

Conference champions Luton Town will take on League One side Swindon Town, winners of the League Cup back in 1969, at Kenilworth Road.

Cardiff City, who were relegated from the Premier League at the end of last season, have been drawn away to Coventry City.

Elsewhere, York and Doncaster are put together in a Yorkshire derby, while Championship new boys Rotherham take on Fleetwood.

There are two tasty Lancashire derbies too, with Bolton meeting Bury and Rochdale taking on Preston.

Fulham and Norwich, relegated along with Cardiff, both receive a bye and will start in the second round.
