Adnan Januzaj proves versatility

Manchester United believe Adnan Januzaj could provide an option in any of the front four positions after he displayed his versatility in Tuesday's 4-0 Capital One Cup win over Norwich.

Adnan Januzaj left Anderlecht for Man United at the age of 16.
Januzaj moved into a different role as United eased past Norwich.

The 18-year-old has played most of his first-team football for the club on the left wing but he excelled as a No. 10, in Wayne Rooney’s usual position, in the victory at Old Trafford.

Jolly: Three things
Payne: United delight

And assistant manager Steve Round feels that the teenager can also operate on the right wing or even feature as the main striker.

"We see him as a No. 7, a No. 10 or  No. 11. He can play [as] any of those three," he said. "You ask our reserve coach and he'd say a No. 9. He played there last season. We are trying to give him as much experience as he can and play him in as many positions. Adnan is coming on from strength to strength."

Wilfried Zaha made a belated first appearance for United at Old Trafford after his summer move from Crystal Palace and Round praised him for his performance.

He added: "I was pleased for Wilf Zaha to get a start and play so well. That will have done his confidence the world of good."

Norwich winger Robert Snodgrass was stretchered off after a clash of heads with Rafael da Silva, causing an eight-minute hold-up in the game.

Manager Chris Hughton said the Scotland international has suffered concussion but does not believe it will prove too serious.

"He's gone to a local hospital. I think that is very much a precaution," he said. "He was out for a period of time. It is concussion. They will do some tests to check everything is okay."
