Leicester boss Nigel Pearson could give son James a Foxes debut when they host Shrewsbury in the Capital One Cup.

The right-back is expected to be in the squad at the King Power Stadium on Tuesday with fellow prospects Jak McCourt and Michael Cain also tipped to be included.

Pearson is without Danny Drinkwater (hamstring), Matty James (shin) and Jamie Vardy (thigh) for the visit of his former side but Dean Hammond should recover from cramp to make the squad after being forced off in Saturday's 2-0 defeat to Chelsea.

Ben Hamer and Chris Wood could also start with Pearson aiming to keep his squad fresh for Sunday's Barclay's Premier League visit of Arsenal.

Pearson is eyeing three new players before the end of the transfer window as the Foxes close in on Esteban Cambiasso.

Manager Pearson confirmed talks have progressed with the former Inter Milan midfielder, who is available on a free transfer.

The ex-Argentina international could be in before Leicester host Arsenal on Sunday ahead of Monday's transfer deadline.

He is available after leaving Inter following 10 years at the San Siro and Pearson remains upbeat over the deal.

Pearson said: "Cambiasso is still a possibility. There's been progress over the weekend so I'm more hopeful than I was on Friday and Saturday but until there is a definitive answer I'm loath to talk too much. But I am hopeful it can be done in next couple of days.

"We've been trying to do business and it has not materialised so far. But hopefully this week we can still do business and bring players in we want to bring in."

Shrewsbury are without the suspended Liam Lawrence after the skipper was sent off in their 1-1 draw with Northampton in Sky Bet League Two on Saturday.

Striker James Collins is pushing to start after scoring at Sixfields but Ashley Vincent is out for up to two months with a hamstring injury.

Town manager Micky Mellon is unbeaten since he took over, winning three and drawing two of his five games, and is not expected to make wholesale changes.
