Cameroon select Eto'o for Tunisia clash

Chelsea striker Samuel Eto’o has been called up to the Cameroon squad for his country’s World Cup qualifying play-off against Tunisia, seemingly contradicting reports that he had retired from international football.

Moonda: Africa's glamour tie
Milla: Eto'o unhappy

Eto’o was believed to have told team-mates that he would no longer represent Cameroon after a World Cup qualifier against Libya earlier this month.

Neither Eto’o nor Indomitable Lions coach Volker Vinke came out to confirm or deny the speculation and it is unclear whether the four-time African Footballer of the Year is going to accept the call-up.

Eto’o is Cameroon’s all-time leading scorer with 55 goals from 112 games and has netted two in two matches in the current World Cup qualifying campaign.

The Indomitable Lions travel to Tunisia for the first leg of their play-off on October 11 before hosting the second leg on November 15, with the winners securing a place at the World Cup in Brazil.
