Moroccan side Difaa El Jadidi have thrown second spot in Group B of the CAF Champions League wide open with a deserved 2-0 victory over Algerian outfit MC Alger on Saturday night.

TP Mazembe have already secured top spot in the pool, but El Jadidi, MC Alger and another Algerian side, ES Setif, all sit on five points with one round of matches to play, and it is anybody's guess who will be the second side into the quarterfinals.

Bilal El Megri gave El Jadidi the lead just before the half-hour mark and the win was secured when Tanzanian forward Simon Msuva, who also scored for his national team against Algeria in March, netted a second.

But El Jadidi now face a tough away day in their final pool match in Lubumbashi against Mazembe on August 28, albeit it is a dead rubber for the DR Congo side. MC Alger host ES Setif in the other match.

Angolan side Primeiro de Agosto were minutes away from securing their passage from Group D before Amine Chermiti's late equaliser for Etoile du Sahel.

Victory would have sealed second spot in the pool and Primeiro looked on course when Dany Massunguna gave them a first-half lead, but they could not hold on and must wait until the final day to know their fate.

Red-hot Zambian striker Lazarous Kambole scored a hat-trick as ZESCO United thumped Mbabane Swallows 3-0 to keep their slim hopes of a quarterfinal place alive.

Primeiro will be favourites to advance as they host Swallows, while ZESCO are home to Etoile, who have already sealed their passage.

Finally, Patrick Kaddu scored the only goal of the game as Ugandan side KCCA defeated Botswana's Township Rollers in Group A.

Both teams have already seen their quarterfinal chances evaporate, with Al Ahly and Esperance assured of the top two spots in the pool.
