The line-up for the CAF Confederation Cup has been decided following the conclusion of the Playoff Round second leg matches on Wednesday night.

AS Vita Club, Gor Mahia, USM Alger and Al-Masry had already secured their spots in the 16-team group stage following their second-leg clashes on Tuesday, with the remaining 12 spots settled during Wednesday's frantic evening of action.

The biggest fallers were Zambian heavyweights Zanaco. They'd already been eliminated from the CAF Champions League in the First Round, and were up against it after being pitted against Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca and losing the first leg 2-0 at home.

A 3-0 victory for the North Africans at the Stade Mohammed V on Wednesday established Raja among the favourites for the Confed Cup.

Another heavyweight to miss out on the group stage are Saint George, who reached the final 16 of the CAF Champions League last season.

They were ousted from Africa's premier club competition this season by KCCA FC, and their Confed Cup tenure was curtailed when they were eliminated after a penalty-shootout defeat at CARA Brazzaville.

Ethiopia's other representatives - Welayta Dicha - weren't able to build on their miraculous victory over SC Zamalek earlier in the competition, and were dumped out 2-1 on aggregate by Young Africans.

The Tanzanian side may have lost 1-0 in Awasa on Wednesday, but they have the quality to be one of the teams to watch in the group stage.

Of the four Nigerian representatives in the Playoff Round, only Enyimba progressed, with the People's Elephant advancing on away goals after holding PSL champions Bidvest Wits 0-0 at home.

Plateau United were dumped out after being outclassed in Algeria on Tuesday, and they were joined by MFM FC, who weren't able to nab an away goal in Mali and were eliminated 1-0 on aggregate by Djoliba.

Akwa United put up a brave fight at home against Sudanese giants Al-Hilal, winning 3-1, but a 2-0 home victory for the Omdurman giants in the first leg took them through on away goals.

RS Berkane were defeated 3-1 by Generation Foot of Senegal in the first leg, but bounced back to progress on away goals after a 2-0 home triumph, while Ivorian duo ASEC Mimosas and Williamsville AC also progress.

Ghana's champions Aduana Stars already had one foot in the group stage after demolishing Madagascar's Fosa Juniors 6-1 in the first leg, and progress despite losing 2-1 away in the second.

Finally, there was joy for two East African sides, as Rayon Sports became the first Rwandan side to reach the group stage, and UD Songo of Mozambique also advanced.
