Barnes and Ings disappointed as Burnley lose two-goal lead again

Burnley strike duo Ashley Barnes and Danny Ings were disappointed as West Brom fought back from two goals down to claim a share of the spoils from a 2-2 Premier League draw at Turf Moor.

Barnes and Ings put the hosts ahead before Chris Brunt pulled one back on the stroke of half-time and second-half substitute Brown Ideye equalised after 67 minutes with the fourth headed goal of the match as the points were shared.

The result leaves the Baggies three points clear of the danger zone, while Burnley moved out of the bottom three and sit in 17th as Hull - who drew 1-1 with Manchester City on Saturday - drop back down a spot.

Barnes told Sky Sports News: "It's a massive feeling like a defeat. We worked so hard to go in front, to go 2-0 goals up. It's happened in the last three games now and we can't put a finger on it.

"It's just disappointing from our point of view.''

The Clarets took the lead early on as Barnes headed home Ings' cross from close range past a diving Ben Foster after 11 minutes.

Provider Ings got on the scoresheet just after the half-hour mark as he was well placed in the centre of the penalty box to head in George Boyd's beautiful cross from the right and double Burnley's lead.

West Brom reduced the deficit just before the break as Callum McManaman's corner found Brunt at the far post and the Northern Ireland international headed home.

Nigeria striker Ideye equalised for the away side after 67 minutes as he rose highest at the near post to head in Brunt's in-swinging corner for the fourth headed goal of the match.

Ings said: "It's just a lack of concentration from set pieces that we need to improve on. It's very disappointing from ourselves today, considering we started the game so well.

"It's football and in this league you can't get away with that and we were punished for it.''

After the Baggies things get very tough for the Clarets with matches against Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City, Tottenham and Arsenal to come over the next couple of months.

Barnes believes his side can continue to battle in order to stay up, and he added: "Reflecting on the result, it's another three points lost really -- a point gained -- but you need every point in this league to stay up and hopefully we can do that.

"We we show that we can just keep going - you look at the stats and that's all we do, just keep going and hopefully it can save us.''

Burnley boss Sean Dyche praised Ings following the speculation linking him with a move away from the club during the transfer window.

He said: "He was excellent again today. He's effervescent, his movement, his quality at times. He's growing into the league, he's understanding it better. Fantastic finish - he's on the move in the box again.

"He's a fine talent, there's no two ways about it and I can see why there's certain people in the media asking about England call-ups, not necessarily to start but in the squad and you can see why.

"He's a tremendous talent and we're delighted we stuck to our word and he's still a Burnley player.''

Reflecting on the game, Dyche added: "We've been outsized in a lot of games this season. You can see the size of some of these teams so we pride ourselves on the organisation and we have to use that wisely - and we have done for most of the season.

"We've been punished today. Our honesty has hurt us today. Dave Jones is as honest as the day's long and he has an elbow in the back, he doesn't go down like many do, they get a free header.''
