Atletico Mineiro's Robinho sidelined three weeks with back injury

Brazil forward Robinho could be out for up to three weeks after fracturing a vertebrae during Brazil's friendly against Colombia on Tuesday.

Brazil team doctor, Rodrigo Lasmar, told ESPN Brazil that the former Real Madrid, Manchester City and AC Milan forward took an elbow in the 1-0 match, which was played to benefit victims of the Chapecoense air disaster.

Lasmar estimated the 33-year-old could be out for up to three weeks.

"Robinho suffered trauma in his back -- a small fracture in the third vertebra," Lasmar said.

Robinho, who had not played for Brazil since the 2015 Copa America, is expected to miss most or all of Atletico Mineiro's Campeonato Mineiro season, which begins on Sunday.
