Neymar fan arrested for breaking into Brazil Olympic team's hotel

A fan of Barcelona star Neymar was arrested after being discovered in the laundry room of the Brazil national team's hotel ahead of the upcoming Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Neymar and his teammates are currently preparing for August's OIympic Football Tournament, where they begin against South Africa on Aug. 4, and also play Iraq and Denmark in their other Group A games.

These preparations were affected momentarily when a 21-year-old sports student managed to get into the team hotel in the central city of Goiania, ahead of Saturday's warm-up friendly against Japan.

"Hotel staff noticed something strange in his behaviour and called us," police officer Vladimir Passos told AFP. "[He] planned to approach Neymar and the team."

ESPN Brasil say the youngster, who was arrested and later released after being cautioned, had used a faked Brazil FA [CBF] credential to gain access to the hotel.

Other reports say the individual had planned to take a selfie with Neymar, before he was apprehended.

The security breach taken advantage of has now been dealt with, Passos said. "The flaw was spotted and we've fixed it," he said.

Neymar and the rest of Rogerio Micale's squad had travelled to Goiania on Thursday morning, having previously been preparing for the Olympic tournament at Granja Comary national training centre at Teresopolis, near Rio de Janeiro.
