Neymar: Brazil national team was never only one guy

Neymar gave yet another influential performance in Brazil's friendly defeat of the United States, but has insisted his side are not a one-man team.

The Selecao captain was lauded for his second-half brace in Brazil's 4-1 thrashing of the U.S. on Tuesday, but was quick to divert the attention onto his teammates in the aftermath of the impressive win.

"The national team always has had many quality players. It never was only one guy," the Brazil captain said. "I congratulate all the players that are playing really well and representing Brazil really well in these two friendlies."

The 23-year-old, who is already the fourth-leading scorer in Brazil's history, said his goals in the 51st and 67th minute were part of his duties as a player within the team.

"I am here to help. My business is to be on the pitch, scoring goals and helping. I want to always be available to my coach," he said.

The former Santos man, who has scored 46 goals in 67 games with the national team, appears destined to beat Pele's record haul of 77 before his career ends, but Brazil manager Dunga has charged his star to think even bigger.

"He will break the goals record. Sign here and I'll bet with anyone, but I want to make a different bet with him: to be World Champion. He will surpass Pele," the former World Cup winner said.

Brazil's defeat of the United States was the team's final tune-up before beginning their World Cup qualifying campaign against Chile and Venezuela next month.

Neymar will miss the two matches as he serves the remainder of a CONMEBOL suspension stemming from his actions following Brazil's loss to Colombia in the 2015 Copa America this summer.
