Brazilian forward Jobson banned four years for alleged refusal of doping test

Botafogo forward Jobson has had a history of failed doping tests in his native Brazil.

RIO DE JANEIRO -- Brazilian striker Jobson has been banned from football for four years for allegedly refusing to undergo a doping test while he played in Saudi Arabia.

The player had been suspended in Saudi Arabia but FIFA on Friday told his Brazilian club, Botafogo, that the ban is also valid in Brazil.

A Saudi Arabian anti-doping commission suspended Jobson last year saying the player refused to undergo a test while playing for Al-Ittihad, a claim the Brazilian striker denies.

Jobson's lawyer, Marcos Motta, told Brazilian media it was odd that the test was asked for by the club itself in the middle of a financial dispute with the player.

Jobson, who has a history of failed doping tests in Brazil, will miss the final of the Rio de Janeiro state championship against Vasco da Gama on Sunday.
