Dortmund fans 'will not stop' protests against Monday night games

Borussia Dortmund fans have vowed to continue their protests against Monday night TV games in Germany after thousands boycotted Monday's match against Augsburg.

Dortmund had their lowest Bundesliga crowd for more than 20 years, with only 54,300 people in the 81,360-capacity stadium and the famous Sudtribune terrace half empty.

"We will not stop," Jan-Henrik Gruszecki, one of the fan activists behind the boycott, told ESPN FC.

It was the second week in a row that supporters had protested peacefully against Monday night games following last week's demonstration at Frankfurt, where tennis balls were thrown onto the pitch.

More than 350 Dortmund fan groups stayed away to show their opposition to the Monday night games introduced after the Bundesliga agreed a new TV contract.

"The boycott was a huge success," Gruszecki said, with the turnout at the Westfalenstadion the lowest since October 1996.

"The stadium was half-empty and this was a strong symbol, also for those following the Bundesliga abroad.

"Nobody regretted his decision to stay at home, and it looks like there could be an even higher acceptance for a boycott next time.

"We will not stop our protests until there are no more Monday night fixtures."

Meanwhile, Dortmund's 13-year-old talent Youssoufa Moukoko took his season's tally to 30 goals in 16 matches for the club's under-17s.

The Germany U16 international, born in Cameroon, scored a hat trick in the local derby against Hombrucher at the weekend.
