Jordi Cruyff: Peter Bosz and Dortmund can challenge Bayern dominance

Borussia Dortmund can become a threat to Bayern Munich under new coach Peter Bosz, Jordi Cruyff has said.

Cruyff, the sporting director at Maccabi Tel Aviv, worked with former Ajax coach Bosz for six months and told Sport 1 he believed the 53-year-old would be a big success in Germany.

"It's great, I'm very happy for him," he said. "He has taken a massive step forward in the last 18 months.

"I think he and Dortmund will have a good chemistry. The players absolutely fit his coaching philosophy.

"I'm proud of Bosz, and it makes me happy that a former Maccabi coach made it to the top."

Cruyff said he felt Dortmund would challenge the dominance of Bayern Munich, who have won the last five Bundesliga titles, in the seasons to come.

"I believe so, yes," he added. "Bayern Munich is one of the biggest clubs in the world. They will always have the means to buy the best players.

"But Dortmund have a good and young team. They've become more and more competitive over the years and recently won a title [the DFB Pokal]."

He described Bosz as "an astute tactician," adding: "He does not appreciate long balls but loves quick, short passes. He has a hunger for goals.

"Bosz is a bit like Pep Guardiola. He has a distinct winning mentality and always stays true to his principles."

Bosz was appointed by Dortmund following the departure of Thomas Tuchel earlier this month.
