Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich meet in cup for sixth successive year

Borussia Dortmund have set up a DFB Pokal meeting with Bayern Munich for the sixth year in succession after Thomas Tuchel's men booked their place in the semifinals.

Dortmund beat Sportfreunde Lotte 3-0 on Tuesday to set up a Klassiker at Bayern's Allianz Arena on April 25 or 26. Borussia Monchengladbach and Eintracht Frankfurt meet in the other semifinal.

"If you want to reach the cup final, you have to beat all teams," Dortmund goalkeeper Roman Burki told the club's TV station. "We will do all we can to come out on top."

Dortmund are the only German side to beat Carlo Ancelotti's side so far this season, having won 1-0 at the Westfalenstadion in November, but Bayern have the better record in their recent cup meetings.

Dortmund beat Bayern in the 2012 final and also won the teams' 2015 semifinal, but Bayern came out on top in the 2013 quarterfinal as well as the 2014 and 2016 finals, winning the trophy in all three of those years. Dortmund have not won the competition since 2012, despite reaching the final in each of the last three years.

Should Dortmund be paired with Bayern in Friday's Champions League quarterfinal draw, the teams would meet four times in just over a fortnight, with their Bundesliga clash scheduled for April 8.
