Borussia Dortmund must focus on Bundesliga - sporting director Zorc

Borussia Dortmund must make the Bundesliga their "clear focus" after failing to secure a league win in October, sporting director Michael Zorc has warned.

Dortmund, who are ahead of Real Madrid in Champions League Group F and are into the DFB Pokal's round of 16, have fallen to sixth in the Bundesliga, three points behind fourth-placed Cologne, after three draws and one defeat for their last four league games.

Speaking to reporters following Saturday's 0-0 draw at home to arch-rivals Schalke, which saw Dortmund only record their first shot in the second half, Zorc urged the team to put a "clear focus" on Bundesliga.

He said: "That's our main competition. We've dropped points there. It's about slowly regaining ground in Bundesliga."

Following a disappointing first half, Dortmund -- who have suffered a series of injuries this season -- were the dominant side during the final 45 minutes of the Revierderby but were denied a goal by the crossbar and keeper Ralf Fahrmann.

BVB improved when coach Thomas Tuchel brought on Portugal international Raphael Guerreiro and Germany winger Andre Schurrle late on after the pair returned to fitness.

Zorc is confident that Dortmund can get their Bundesliga campaign back on track in the next couple of weeks when they travel to rock-bottom Hamburg and then host leaders Bayern Munich after the international break.

"We are now in a situation where the injured players slowly return. We'll be able to bring more quality to the pitch and make better changes," Zorc said.

On Wednesday, Dortmund host Sporting Lisbon in the Champions League and could secure their berth in the knockout stages with victory.
