Thomas Tuchel pleased by second-half discipline in Dortmund's 5-0 win

Borussia Dortmund manager Thomas Tuchel said he was pleased with how his team responded at half-time to put five goals past Wolfsberger in the Europa League on Thursday.

The Austrian side had held Dortmund goalless before the break, but Tuchel's men broke out and took the lead after just three minutes with Marco Reus' goal.

Four more followed, including three from Henrikh Mkhitaryan's hat trick, and Tuchel said his side showed more discipline in the second half.

"The second half was a good reaction to the first," he said. "We played at a high tempo, showed a lot of good characteristics in our play, created a lot of chances on goal and ultimately found the net five times. I was satisfied with the second-half performance.

"In the first period, we showed a lack of positional discipline, meaning we couldn't pass our way round the opposition so much.

"In the second 45 minutes we were more disciplined in the spaces where we wanted to put together link-up play.

"We strung together quicker passing movements and often played between the lines."

Mkhitaryan scored his first on a low rocket from 30 yards, and two more followed after the 80th minute, much to the delight of his manager.

"Mkhitaryan is a model professional," Tuchel said. "I'm very happy to have him in my team. It's a great pleasure for me to work with him, to watch him and to see how he uses the talent at his disposal."

Wolfsberger coach Dietmar Kuhbauer backed Dortmund to have a more succesful season than last year, when BVB finished seventh.

"Dortmund clearly showed that they are a different class tonight," Kuhbauer said. "After the second goal we just collapsed. BVB were a few levels above us tonight, we have to accept that.

"One thing's for sure: Dortmund will play a much better role in the Bundesliga this coming season."
