Jurgen Klopp replacement at Dortmund could be Tuchel - report

Thomas Tuchel is the favourite to replace Jurgen Klopp as head coach of Borussia Dortmund, according to Bild.

Klopp announced on Wednesday he will be parting company with Dortmund on June 30, having been at the helm since 2008.

Dortmund did not comment on the coach's potential successor, although CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke vowed to put "security before speed" when making the decision.

According to Bild, BVB have already agreed a four-year-deal with former Mainz coach Tuchel.

Tuchel left Mainz in 2014 but has recently been linked with a return to football when his sabbatical ends this summer.

Other potential candidates for the Dortmund job include Gladbach coach Lucien Favre and Augsburg's Markus Weinzierl, according to kicker and Allgemeine Zeitung.

As for Klopp, Bild claims that Manchester City could look to bring him in as Manuel Pellegrini's successor, while also naming Liverpool as a potential destination.

Despite Klopp's departure, an overhaul of the Dortmund squad may not be as dramatic as expected.

Kicker reported the coach's exit could actually convince Mats Hummels to pen a new deal at the Westfalenstadion, instead of heading to the Premier League.

The paper, however, also said that Dortmund's hopes of convincing Ilkay Gundogan to prolong his contract are fading.

The midfielder's deal expires in 2016, and BVB have said that they will not go into the new season with the Germany international's contract running out.

Other players who could leave the club are Ciro Immobile, who has been linked with a return to Serie A, and Armenia international Henrikh Mkhitaryan, the club's record signing in 2013.
