Kevin Kampl excited about playing with Marco Reus at Dortmund

New Borussia Dortmund signing Kevin Kampl is looking forward to playing alongside the likes of Marco Reus, while he believes the struggling Bundesliga side can turn their season around.

In late-December, Dortmund splashed out 12 million euros to sign Kampl, 24, from Salzburg, with the midfielder signing a four-and-half-year deal.

BVB, who beat Bayer Leverkusen to the signature of Kampl, are currently just one place off the bottom of the Bundesliga, having only managed to score 18 goals from 17 games.

"I am ready for the next step," Kampl told a news conference. "I play the No. 10 role for Slovenia, and at Salzburg I wasn't a classic winger marching up and down the pitch. I was more a No. 10 played on the right.

"I can play any position in midfield -- no matter where I'm put in the team, I want to give my all."

The Slovenia international added that he believes Dortmund "don't belong" in the bottom half of the Bundesliga table, while he hopes the work being done during the club's winter training camp will lay the foundations for a better second half of the season.

Seen on the training pitch alongside Kampl was Reus, and the new Dortmund midfielder said of the Germany international: "To play with stars like him is extremely nice. I am looking forward to the time with those super players."

While the future of Reus is currently undecided, former BVB captain Sebastian Kehl reiterated at the weekend that he is set to retire from football this summer.

"Last summer I made the decision to quit the game and I'm assuming that it stays that way," the 34-year-old told the club's official website, amid ongoing discussions as to whether the midfielder could change his mind.
