Borussia Dortmund forward Henrikh Mkhitaryan will miss his side's last two Bundesliga matches of 2014 after being ruled out for six weeks with a hamstring tear.
Mkhitaryan limped out of Dortmund's 1-0 defeat at Hertha Berlin on Saturday after just over half an hour and a scan on Sunday morning confirmed he would not play again this year.
"He felt a twinge and that's not good for us when we have a midweek match,'' said Dortmund coach Jurgen Klopp on Saturday. "He'll probably miss the rest of the first half of the season.''
Mkhitaryan may also miss Dortmund's first game of 2014 at Bayer Leverkusen, but the Armenia international should be back for the resumption of the Champions League in mid-February.
Chelsea are one of Dortmund's potential opponents in Monday's draw for the last 16.
