Dortmund deny Madrid Lewi link

Borussia Dortmund chief executive Aki Watzke has denied reports that the club are in talks with Real Madrid over the transfer of star striker Robert Lewandowski to Spain.

On Thursday, a Sky Italia report suggested Dortmund and Madrid had agreed a €30 million deal for the Poland international, but that the player, who gets married this weekend, had turned the move down.

Speaking to German TV station Sport 1, Watzke said: "I can only tell you we don't know anything about this.

"We have had no contact with Real Madrid regarding Lewandowski. Weeks ago, it was said Real are interested. Robert has, however, made it clear - he wants to join Bayern Munich."

The future of Lewandowski, who scored a hat-trick against Real in the Champions League semi-finals, remains unclear, although he has been most strongly linked with Champions League winners and runaway Bundesliga champions Bayern.

However, Dortmund announced at the weekend that the striker will not be allowed to join their Bundesliga rivals in the summer.

He has also been reported to be a target for Barcelona, Manchester United and Chelsea.

Polish newspaper Pilka Nozna reported that Lewandowski's agents want him to move to Munich, hoping his arrival at Germany's biggest club would boost his marketing value.
