Real Madrid could move for Thibaut Courtois as keeper search intensifies

The transfer window is heating up! Transfer Talk brings you live updates on all the latest rumours and done deals. Check out all the confirmed January moves so far on our transfers page.

Do Chelsea have cause for new Courtois concern?

After goalkeeper Kepa Arrizabalaga's decision to stay at Athletic Bilbao despite Real Madrid's interest, the Telegraph says Chelsea have "fresh fears over Thibaut Courtois, with Madrid keen for him to stall on a new contract."

It reports that the Premier League champions had "expected Courtois to sign this month after offering a deal that would make him the highest-paid goalkeeper in the world."

However, despite the Belgium international having indicated he was ready to put pen to paper, "Madrid are understood to have reiterated their long-standing interest in him."

LIVE BLOG

23.00 GMT: That will do it for tonight's edition of Transfer Talk Live. Please remember to check back in tomorrow for the latest rumours and completed deals from around the football world. Have a good night all!

22.58 GMT: We mentioned Thibaut Courtois to Real Madrid links earlier but now there is reportedly a new favourite for the Chelsea goalkeeper's services.

AS claim that PSG are now are the frontrunners for the Belgian keeper -- if he does choose to leave Stamford Bridge.

Goalkeeper remains PSG's one big weak link so acquiring a shot-stopper of Courtois' quality would be massive for the Champions League dreamers.

Courtois figures to be a player to watch as we inch closer and closer to the transfer deadline.

22.36 GMT: Still looking to land a striker, Brighton have had a bid for out-of-favour Newcastle hitman Aleksandar Mitrovic rejected, sources have told Sky Sports News.

Mitrovic has made just six league appearances (zero starts) this season but had an impressive World Cup qualifying campaign with Serbia, and the Magpies are still determined to get £15m for him.

Brighton's search for a goalscorer goes on...

22.16 GMT: Cyle Larin's ongoing transfer saga has taken another unusual turn.

The Orlando City and Canada striker was seen in Turkey training with Turkish giants Besiktas, despite the fact that Orlando City have confirmed he is still under contract with the Florida club.

We have seen players try and force through transfers before but this tug of war between Larin, Orlando City and Besiktas is one for the ages.

At this stage, it is anyone's guess as to where Larin plays next season.

21.51 GMT: According to reports, Man City are preparing a major pay-rise for breakout star Raheem Sterling after taking care of Kevin De Bruyne's contract situation earlier in the week.

The reports suggest that City will jump Sterling's weekly wages from £180,000 to around £220,000 per week. Sterling is having a career season, have already bagged 18 goals this season.

21.27 GMT: West Ham may soon have good news regarding their pursuit of a midfielder.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato, Inter Milan's Joao Mario has now "given the green light" for a move to West Ham.

The Hammers have been engaged in talks with the Euro 2016 star since the opening of the window but have also been linked with Real Betis midfielder Fabian Ruiz and Anderlecht's Leander Dendoncker

David Moyes will be keen to get a midfielder in soon with the club hoping to continue their recent uptick in form.

21.08 GMT: While not "transfers" per say, we have some manager news to attend to:

First, Sean Dyche has signed a contract extension to stay at Burnley through 2022. Full story.

Martin O'Neill has signed a contract extension to stay the head man with the Republic of Ireland through 2020. The Irish Times has the full story.

And last but not least, a new manager hiring. The England ladies have named former Manchester United and Everton player Phil Neville their new manager.

Neville has never had a full-time coaching gig and takes over the Three Lionesses from Mark Sampson, who was sacked amid a racial scandal in September.

20.51 GMT: With Chelsea midfielder Kenedy confirmed on loan, Newcastle have turned their attention to adding a striker.

The Mirror understands that Rafa Benitez and Newcastle have identified Leicester's Islam Slimani as a top target.

The Algerian has not had the best go of things at the King Power but would still cost the club around £20 million, which would break the club's transfer record -- £16m for Michael Owen in 2005.

Is Slimani the answer to Toon's goalscoring woes?

20.36 GMT: Desperate for attacking help, West Brom are closely monitoring Borussia Dortmund's oft-injured winger Andre Schurrle, according to the Times.

The World Cup winner and ex-Chelsea man has hardly played for BVB this season but if fit, could be a player worth taking a chance on for a club of West Brom's stature.

A loan move down a peg to a club like West Brom could be mutually beneficial, as the German could really use a move to re-energise his career.

20.16 GMT: Motherwell's signing of defender Peter Hartley may have gone unnoticed by many, as it is a minor transfer in the global scheme of things.

That being said, the Scottish club's unveiling of Hartley will not thanks to some clever production and use of social media.

Brilliantly mocking Manchester United's unveiling of Alexis Sanchez, Motherwell might have set the new standard for future player unveilings.

Hartley may be a minor signing but we'll give Motherwell an "A" when it comes to banter.

19.59 GMT: Could Man United have another ace up their sleeve yet?

Various reports in England indicate they are one of five or six clubs still interested in Nice playmaker Jean-Michael Seri.

One of Ligue 1's top assist makers, Seri would add another creative presence to United's midfield alongside Juan Mata and Paul Pogba.

19.33 GMT: DONE DEAL -- MLS veteran and US international goalkeeper Nick Rimando has re-signed with long-time club Real Salt Lake.

The 38-year-old Rimando is the MLS all-time leader in wins and will enter his 12th season with RSL.

19.18 GMT: From one young phenomenon to a former one, we have a Freddy Adu sighting  and this time it has nothing to do with Football Manager.

The American wonderboy turned bust is set to go on trial with the newly formed Las Vegas Lights of the United Soccer League (USL), the second tier of the American soccer pyramid.

Adu, now 28, has played for 12 professional clubs in eight different countries but has played sparingly since leaving the Philadelphia Union in 2013.

Last preseason Adu trialled with the Portland Timbers but the midfielder has not played an official game since 2016 with the Tampa Bay Rowdies, then of the NASL.

We wish Freddy all the best in his latest comeback attempt.

19.02 GMT: Here's a big one for the MLS crowd: The Montreal Impact are in "very advanced" discussions with a European club over the permanent sale of teenage phenomenon Ballou Jean-Yves Tabla.

The 18-year-old Canada youth international burst onto the scene last season with the Impact but has been disgruntled since the club turned down an offer from Europe for him in August.

The mystery club close to signing Tabla remains unknown but Washington Post reporter Steven Goff has gotten word it is Barcelona.

What a splash this would be for both MLS and Canadian soccer!

18.47 GMT: Previously linked with Brazilians Lucas Moura and Malcolm, Tottenham reportedly have another Brazilian on their radar as well.

Reports out of Brazil claim that Mauricio Pochettino and Spurs are interested in Ajax's David Neres. The 20-year-old has eight goals in 16 league games for the Dutch giants and is being lined up as a "Plan C" if Spurs cannot nail down their aforementioned top two targets.

18.30 GMT: DONE DEAL.

After a deal fell through at the final hurdle in the summer, Newcastle have finally gotten their man, signing Kenedy on loan for the rest of the season from Chelsea.

The 21-year-old Brazilian has been one of Chelsea's most-talked about youngsters over the past couple of seasons and is the latest to be loaned out by the Blues.

Rafa Benitez desperately wanted signings and now he finally has one.

18.15 GMT: Another one (DJ Khaled voice).

DONE DEAL -- Crystal Palace have officially completed the signing of Poland defender Jaroslaw Jach. Jach arrives at Crystal Palace from Polish side Zaglebie Lubin and will become the first ever Pole to play for the Eagles. History.

17.57 GMT: We have a DONE DEAL. Paris Saint-Germain have made the signing of free agent midfielder Lassana Diarra official.

Diarra last played in the UAE but had his contract terminated in December by Al-Jazira. The ex-Arsenal, Chelsea and Real Madrid man is now 32 and could prove an important addition with Thiago Motta's current injury woes.

17.42 GMT: MLS clubs Colorado Rapids, LA Galaxy and Orlando City are all reportedly interested in acquiring Aston Villa striker Ross McCormack.

The Scottish international is currently on loan with Melbourne City but is likely on the way out at Villa after a disappointing season and a half. Prior to his stay at Villa, the 31-year-old was a prolific scorer with Fulham, scoring 38 goals in two seasons.

17.25 GMT: After bringing in Alexis Sanchez this week, Man United are set to ship another play out...at least temporarily.

Talented youngster Axel Tuanzebe is expected to be loaned out this month and is being linked with a loan move away from Old Trafford.

Championship side Aston Villa are one club keen on adding the 20-year-old defender, who has made five first-team appearances with the Red Devils to date.

17.10 GMT: Turkish newspaper Aksam are reporting that Galatasaray are closing in on a deal with Watford defender Jose Holebas. The paper claim that the Turkish giants are set to offer a fee in the region of £550,000 for Holebas after missing out on primary targets Filipe Luis of Atletico Madrid and Juventus' Kwadwo Asamoah.

16:20 GMT: West Ham, Fulham and Girona are interested in Rubin Kazan forward Ruben Rochina -- sources close to the player have told ESPN FC.

16:08 GMT: It's been mooted for a while and now it's finally happening ... Barcelona are saying goodbye to Javier MascheranoHere's the full story on the Camp Nou legend's departure.

15.39 GMT: As night follows day, and transfer widow follows transfer window, Cristiano Ronaldo is moaning and looking for a new contract. But is his global attraction now not what it was? Graham Hunter looks at the superstar's future as he again sulks and claims he wants out.

15.23 GMT: More now on Chelsea's interest in Edin Dzeko and comments from Roma boss Eusebio Di Francesco, who definitely sounds like he is expecting the player to head back to England. He said: "As of today, Dzeko should play from the first minute. I haven't spoken to him yet as I didn't want to stress him. For the time being, I am counting on him. Then we'll decide together."

15.09 GMT: Aaron Lennon believes he still has plenty to offer after joining Burnley. He said: "I have missed a bit of football in the last year or so and I just want to get back and play as much as possible."

14.52 GMT: We've been holding this poll since Sunday and it's got a MASSIVE amount of votes. Click away!

14.39 GMT: Aston Villa might have dropped down to the Championship, but that doesn't stop us including a DONE DEAL. Well, it's a deal out, as Ritchie De Laet has left to join Royal Antwerp on loan in his native Belgium for the rest of the season.

14.21 GMT: Juventus' general manager Beppe Marotta had said speculation linking the club with a move for Mario Balotelli is "mere fabrication," while admitting a deal for Liverpool midfielder Emre Can this month is going to be difficult.

13.58 GMT: Now then, Daniel Sturridge had apparently made Sevilla his No. 1 choice for a transfer. However, Inter Milan have made a loan offer that is still under consideration from Liverpool, a source has told ESPN FC.

13.35 GMT: And we have a DONE DEAL as Aaron Lennon completes his permanent switch from Everton to Burnley for an undisclosed fee.

13.34 GMT: Swap deals in top level football are pretty rare, so when two "world-class" players like Alexis Sanchez and Henrikh Mkhitaryan did so for Arsenal and Manchester United it got us wondering which other swaps have made waves in recent years? And who got the best of the deal? Check out our top ten.

13.20 GMT: WATCH: Kevin De Bruyne says he jumped at the chance to sign a new five-year deal with Manchester City and feels the club is building something special.

13.09 GMT: Could be some interesting news here with regards to Chelsea's double bid for Roma's Edin Dzeko and Emerson Palmieri -- with a deal for the latter said to be imminent. Roma coach Eusebio Di Francesco has said that Dzeko will definitely play against Sampdoria on Wednesday, but he did not mention left-back Emerson.

12.58 GMT: Lucas Moura has been linked with Arsenal, Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur in this window, and the forward has now told L'Equipe that he is "disgusted" to be an outcast at Paris Saint-Germain. However, in the interview he does not mention a move to the Premier League but does say Spain could be his No. 1 option.

He said: "I am sickened that I am no longer playing. I thought that I have built something solid with the club but obviously that is not the case. I know that God will help me -- I have faith. Is Spanish football right for me? I do not know (if there is much interest from teams there) but it is true that La Liga could suit me."

12.44 GMT: Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema's agent says the whistles directed at him from the Bernabeu home crowd at the weekend were "unfair" but the player has no intention of being forced out of the club.

12.22 GMT: WATCH: Arsene Wenger has confirmed that Arsenal are in talks with Borussia Dortmund over the potential signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

12.06 GMT: Mohamed Salah to Real Madrid and Olivier Giroud to Borussia Dortmund? They are just two of the day's hot transfer rumours from to Football Whispers.

11.53 GMT: Rafinha has posted a message to Barcelona fans on his Instagram account, saying it was the right time for him to follow a new path, but that he would be eternally grateful to the Blaugrana after joining Inter Milan on loan.

He said: "I almost can't find the words to express what I'm feeling for the club that allowed me to grow both as a person and as a player. I came here in 2006, as a 13-year-old. Just a child, who would never have imagined he could live so many wonderful moments and win so many trophies. Here, I was taught virtually all I know about football and I was able to fulfil all of my biggest dreams as a 'homegrown' player. Now, the moment has come to take a new path. I will be eternally grateful to this team, club and fans who gave me all their support in the toughest moments. They are incredible.

"To my teammates: I grew learning from you, thank you, I wish you all the best. Thank you to all those who work for the club, first to last, because you offered me a smile even when I was a child. I will carry you in my heart. These have been 12 incredible years. You cannot imagine how happy I was to be able to say goodbye wearing this shirt. Força Barça, eternally blaugrana. "

Força Barça i eternament blaugrana.

10.59 GMT: Chelsea's Kenedy is set to have a medical at Newcastle today ahead of a loan move. That should pave the way for Chelsea to announce a permanent deal for Roma left-back Emerson Palmieri.

10.56 GMT: Nicolo Pirlo, the son of Juventus and Italy legend Andrea, is on the list of possible purchases for Juventus' under-16 squad. The 15-year-old is, according to reports, a quality, technical midfielder, and very similar to his dad -- except for his preference for a slightly more attacking position.

10.39 GMT: DONE DEAL Remember David N'gog? Yes, the former Liverpool striker who once cost Bolton Wanderers a mere £4m in 2011. Well after spells with Reims and Panionios, the former France under-21 international, still only 28, has resurfaced in the Scottish Premiership with Ross County on a deal until the end of the season.

10.22 GMT: We have a DONE DEAL as Australian attacker Kwame Yeboah, 23, joins third-tier leaders SC Paderborn on a six-month loan from Borussia Monchengladbach. Yeboah has failed to break into the Gladbach first team since arriving from Brisbane Roar in January 2014.

09.09 GMT: Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has ruled out Danny Welbeck joining Besiktas this month in his news conference. He said: "I want Danny to stay."

08.49 GMT: Remember when Nicolas Gaitan was linked with Manchester United every transfer window? He eventually moved to Atletico Madrid two years ago but it has not at all gone well for him and he is desperate for a move. Premier League interest now seems to have dried up but, according to A Bola, Sporting Lisbon could offer him a route back to Portugal.

Contradicting reports, though, in Marca, as it is reporting interest from Premier League strugglers Swansea. It also reports that he wants to go home and play for Boca Juniors but Shanghai Shenhua of the Chinese Super League could be the most realistic destination.

08.26 GMT: Real Madrid target Kepa Arrizabalaga signed a new Athletic Bilbao contract on Monday that runs until June 2025 with an €80 million release clause, and has now told AS he felt he was better off with his current club than going to a bigger team.

He said: "There were offers but I thought the best was to stay at Athletic long term."

08.07 GMT: Newly confirmed Arsenal arrival Henrikh Mkhitaryan sparked a social media storm when, on a video of his first day at the club, he appeared to offer an invitation to Gunners transfer target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.

08.00 GMT: So the Alexis Sanchez-Henrikh Mkhitaryan deal is finally done. So what else will the world of transfers have in store for us? Stick with us!

PAPER ROUND

Gunners may be made to bide their time for Auba

Borussia Dortmund could make Arsenal wait until the summer before they can sign Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, according to the Mirror.

It reports that BVB will put an Aubameyang deal on ice unless the Gunners agree to include Olivier Giroud as part of an exchange this month.

The Mirror says Dortmund "want £60 million for Aubameyang but have told Arsenal they must get a replacement -- and France international Giroud is their No. 1 choice."

The Bundesliga giants, it adds, see Giroud as being a player who can bring them the necessary goals if Aubameyang departs.

Arsenal officials are in Dortmund to try to conclude a deal, and the Mirror adds that boss Arsene Wenger "has not ruled out the possibility" of Giroud moving on.

Blues closing in on Dzeko

Chelsea's hunt for a new striker, which has featured both Andy Carroll and Peter Crouch in recent weeks, seems to be nearing an end.

The Evening Standard reports that the agent of Roma's Edin Dzeko is on his way to London to hold negotiations.

Although it adds that the 31-year-old forward "wants reassurances over the amount of game-time he will get before agreeing to the switch," the Mirror reports that Chelsea are confident.

However, the Telegraph notes that Dzeko's Roma contract is not due to expire until 2020, and says "Chelsea will either have to break their policy of one-year deals for over-30s or somehow negotiate a compromise."

Tap-ins

- West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans, linked with both Arsenal and Manchester City, could leave for only £3m in the event that the Baggies are relegated from the Premier League, the BBC reports.

It says it "understands there is a clause in Evans' contract that means he can leave for £3m if West Brom go down" and adds that although City are still considering a January offer Arsenal may now ditch their interest as they concentrate on bringing in Aubameyang.

- Crystal Palace are in discussions with Inter Milan over an £8.5m move for Eder, the Mail reports, saying a switch could help Inter finance a swoop for Liverpool's Daniel Sturridge.

Italy international Eder is one of a number of strikers reportedly being looked at by Palace boss Roy Hodgson, who wants to increase his side's attacking efficiency.
