Liverpool, Inter Milan join race for Manchester City maestro David Silva

Pep Guardiola credits Manchester City's mental fortitude to outlast Arsenal after their difficult UCL trip midweek.
Stewart Robson discusses Arsene Wenger's tactical choices after Arsenal's 3-1 defeat to Manchester City.

With the January window on the horizon, there's plenty brewing in the transfer market. All the latest deals and potential deals can be found here.

Liverpool, Inter join chase for City's Silva

In September, reports suggested Manchester City's David Silva could be tempted by a move to AC Milan despite City being keen to extend his contract.

Now it seems Silva could have other options to consider, with the Sun reporting that both Liverpool and Milan's rivals Inter "are plotting a sensational swoop as contract talks with City continue."

The 31-year-old, whose current deal expires in 2019, remains a key part of Pep Guardiola's plans, with officials at the Etihad Stadium keen to tie him to a 12-month extension.

But the Sun says they may have their work cut out, with Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp "a big admirer" of Silva and Inter looking to add to their creative options.

Silva, who moved to City from Valencia in 2010, has also been linked with Fenerbahce in recent weeks.

Everton ready to spend big on Evans

Everton will "dig deep" to bring West Bromwich Albion defender Jonny Evans to Goodison Park in January, according to the Mail.

Recent reports have linked Evans -- a Manchester City target in the summer -- with a move to Merseyside, but the Mail says he won't come cheap.

It adds that "although spending big in the summer has not returned positive results," Everton owner Farhad Moshiri is ready to back a move.

The asking price for Northern Ireland international Evans "is set to be huge," but he is not the only defender Everton are chasing.

They are also interested in Preston left-back Josh Earl, seen as "an ideal long-term replacement for Leighton Baines."

Everton had teenager Earl watched in Preston's recent home defeat to Brentford, but he was injured the following week and that could "slow down" efforts to sign him.

Ajax midfielder interesting Premier League trio

Ajax midfielder Frenkie de Jong could be the subject of a three-way Premier League transfer tussle, according to the Sun.

It reports that Arsenal, Manchester City and Chelsea are all interested in the 20-year-old, who has starred since breaking into the Ajax first team.

Arsenal and City "have spoken to Ajax over a January deal," the report adds, with Chelsea keeping a close eye on the situation.

The Sun says "clubs reckon they can get De Jong for a bargain £5 million" because his current contract has only 18 months to run.

But it adds that Ajax "could hold out for a bigger fee or offer De Jong fresh terms after his emergence as a major prospect."

Tap-ins

- Aston Villa manager Steve Bruce may allow players to move on as he seeks funds for new faces -- but striker Scott Hogan, midfielders Henri Lansbury and Jack Grealish and defender James Bree will not be among them, according to the Birmingham Mail.

The Mail adds that "unless something changes" the quartet "will continue to be part of a squad that gives the manager a number of options ahead of a hectic festive schedule."

- Newcastle United are among several clubs interested in Atlanta United's Miguel Almiron, the official MLS site says.

Almiron, 23, who notched nine goals and 14 assists in his first MLS season, has also been linked with Arsenal.
