Townsend's Leicester move could pave the way for Alexis Sanchez

The football world is awash with gossip. Transfer Talk is monitoring the whispers ahead of all the summer moves. Check out the latest deals and potential deals here.

TOP STORY: Townsend move could push Alexis to City

Leicester have tabled a £27 million offer for Crystal Palace winger Andros Townsend, which the Mirror reports will lead to Arsenal selling Alexis Sanchez to Manchester City.

The Chilean has just one year remaining on his contract, and Arsene Wenger has remained adamant that Sanchez will not be sold this summer.

But if the Foxes land Townsend, the Gunners could jump ahead of Roma to sign Algeria international Riyad Mahrez, who would become Sanchez's replacement at the Emirates.

While City are willing to wait until 2018 for Sanchez and land him on a free transfer, Arsenal might now be willing to let their talisman leave in a £50m deal.

LIVE BLOG

22.57 BST: That's going to do it for Sunday's live edition of Transfer Talk. Thanks very much for joining us, and be sure to check back in a few short hours when we return with the best gossip pulled from Monday's back pages.

22.42 BST: Liverpool will have to fight off Monaco in order to sign Bayern Munich's Renato Sanches, Sky Sports Kaveh Solhekol has tweeted, citing Sky Italia.

22.15 BST: With Shkodran Mustafi angling for a move to Inter Milan, Arsenal are searching for replacements, and

18.05 BST: Everton boss Ronald Koeman has said he wants to add more new faces before the window closes, but played down reports that Diego Costa could be one of them. "I don't know [about signing Costa]," he told reporters. "We are looking at players who are available and, if we sign somebody, it is somebody who will make the team better,"

18.00 BST: Alexis Sanchez returned for Arsenal today as speculation continues to surround his future with the Gunners. It wasn't a good day for either him or them:

17.45 BST: It's going to be a busy final week of the transfer window for Chelsea, according to the Independent. Three new signings are on their way, it reports, with a bid for Swansea forward Fernando Llorente imminent.

17.15 BST: Ousmane Dembele is in Barcelona, where he will undergo a medical before joining them from Borussia Dortmund:

17.00 BST: Arsenal defender Shkodran Mustafi is being lined up for a move to Inter Milan, sources have told ESPN FC.

Mustafi was named on the substitutes' bench for Arsenal's Premier League game at Liverpool on Sunday.

16.50 BST: An all-but-done deal now, according to the Telegraph, which reports that Spurs defender Kevin Wimmer will join Stoke in a deal worth some £15m and is due to have a medical tomorrow.

16.45 BST: DONE DEAL Goalkeeping ins and outs at Leeds, where free agent Andy Lonergan has returned to Elland Road after Rob Green was released earlier in the summer. Green moved to Huddersfield on Sunday.

16.30 BST: Over to Italy, where gianlucadimarzio.com reports that Napoli could target Simon Mignolet if Pepe Reina goes to PSG. However, Liverpool do not want to sell Mignolet.

16.20 BST: A bit more on Rob Green's move to Huddersfield, and this is what coach David Wagner had to say: "I think it makes total sense to bring Rob Green in because after Jonas Lossl, who has done an excellent job so far, we have very young goalkeepers with Joel Coleman and Ryan Schofield.

"He is a very experienced guy and a good guy. He knows the role I expect from him in the next 10 months he'll be with us. I'm very happy he can join us."

15.54 BST: It looks like Davinson Sanchez's arrival at Tottenham will push Kevin Wimmer out. Stoke seem the Austrian defender's likely destination.

15.33 BST: DONE DEAL This one has been coming. Former England international goalkeeper Rob Green has joined Huddersfield.

Huddersfield boss David Wagner said of the signing: "I met Rob and he is a very experienced guy and a good guy. He knows the role I expect from him in the next 10 months he'll be with us. I'm very happy he can join us."

15.05 BST: Plenty of transfer interest in Arsenal's team news today. Alexis Sanchez returns to the starting XI, while Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain -- who has been heavily linked with a move to Chelsea -- also starts. Meanwhile, summer signings Alexandre Lacazette and Sead Kolasinac are named on the bench.

14.37 BST: In an interview with the Sunday Times, Aaron Ramsey addressed Alexis Sanchez's position at Arsenal.

He said: "The manager [Arsene Wenger] has come out many times and said he's staying, and Alexis has never indicated in any way at all that he wants to leave, or that he doesn't want to be there. He's been itching to get out and play - and he looks ready."

14.20 BST: Speaking ahead of West Brom's Premier League game at Stoke, Baggies manager Tony Pulis said he hopes to add more new faces to his squad before Thursday's transfer deadline.

He told Sky Sports: "We've got money to spend from what we made last year, and hopefully we will be doing that before Deadline Day. We need to do that. But we need to pick the right ones

"The problem we have now is that the English market is getting even tougher. So we might have to take a chance on a couple of players from abroad, when you do that it's a risk."

13.49 BST: West Brom captain Jonny Evans used his programme notes to address rumours linking him with Manchester City.

13.23 BST: Everton have joined Chelsea in registering an interest in £40m-rated Leicester striker Jamie Vardy, the Mirror reports, as they look to find a replacement for Romelu Lukaku.

12.58 BST: Sky Sports' Spanish football expert Guillem Balague says Arsenal will not move to sign Marco Asensio from Real Madrid, adding the 21-year-old attacking midfielder will sign a new contract with Los Blancos soon.

12.25 BST: ESPN FC's man in France, Jonathan Johnson, says Julian Draxler and Angel Di Maria could both be sold by Paris Saint-Germain if Kylian Mbappe is signed from Monaco.

12.01 BST: Nantes and Bolton both want to take 19-year-old midfielder Jeff Reine-Adelaide on loan from Arsenal, the Daily Mail claims.

11.39 BST: Sheffield Wednesday are reported to have turned down a £12 million bid from Fulham for unsettled forward Fernando Forestieri -- but the deal could be done if the Cottagers submit an improved offer.

11.02 BST: Could Simon Mignolet be on the way out of Liverpool before the transfer window closes? The Daily Telegraph says he's not in the squad to play Arsenal on Sunday.

10.39 BST: Jordan Henderson says the uncertainty of Philippe Coutinho's future is causing no problems within the Liverpool squad.

10.07 BST: Islam Slimani to Monaco? Sky Sports says that the Leicester forward is their No. 1 target after Kylian Mbappe completes his move to Paris Saint-Germain.

09.39 BST: The Liverpool Echo reports that Liverpool fear they are going to miss out on Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain because Arsenal do not want to sell the player to a rival club.

09.15 BST: Now just FIVE days to go in the transfer window. Will we see any movement in the big deals today? Will Ousmane Dembele be signed and sealed at Barcelona? Keep it right here.

PAPER ROUND

Evans, Mangala set to switch places

Jonny Evans could complete the shock move of the summer by joining Manchester City for £30m, with The Sun claiming Eliaquim Mangala will join West Brom on a season-long loan as part of the deal.

Pep Guardiola is aware that his defence is still fragile. Without Vincent Kompany, the Blues lack a leader at the back.

Despite Evans being 29, City are eager to add quality cover and are now set to up their offer to £30m after the Baggies rejected a £18m bid.

Roma on the brink of mega Schick deal

Patrik Schick's rollercoaster summer could end well, as Corriere dello Sport reports that Roma are on the verge of signing the Czech talent in a €38m deal.

The Sampdoria star almost joined Juventus this summer in a €25m move due to a release clause in his contract, which has since expired. A reported issue in his medical stalled the transfer before the Old Lady eventually called it off, leaving the Giallorossi to steal in for the 21-year-old.

Napoli have also shown serious interest and could offer Duvan Zapata as a makeweight, but Roma are due to meet the Viola in Florence tomorrow to conclude a deal.

Everton ready to hijack Chelsea's Vardy deal

Everton are emerging as serious contenders to sign Jamie Vardy from Leicester, with the Mirror claiming the Toffees could beat Chelsea in a £40m deal.

The Blues had been touted as a surprise suitor for the England international, with Antonio Conte unconvinced by Michy Batshuayi and keen to avoid being left without cover for Alvaro Morata with Diego Costa still out in the cold.

The Foxes can expect to receive a £40m offer for Vardy, which might prove too good to resist given he will turn 31 later this season.

Tap-ins

- West Brom have tabled a £10m offer for Fenerbahce star Josef de Souza, according to the Mail. The 28-year-old, who has been capped by Brazil, would boost Tony Pulis' midfield, as well as being an option at right-back.

The Baggies are also still pursuing Liverpool outcast Mamadou Sakho after dropping interest in Tottenham's Kevin Wimmer and Bournemouth's Tyrone Mings.

- Watford and Burnley are looking into signing Andrea Ranocchia from Inter Milan, with the Mirror detailing that Marco Silva is eager to link up with the Italian centre-back after a successful spell together at Hull.

The Clarets are also keen and are in the market for a centre-back after losing Michael Keane to Everton.
