Transfer Rater: Chris Smalling to Arsenal, Milinkovic-Savic to Liverpool
Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the whisper.
Here are today's top five emerging whispers for the summer. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest gossip.
Andrew Robertson to Burnley
According to the Mirror, Burnley are keen on bringing Robertson to Turf Moor this summer. Sean Dyche's men missed out on the 23-year-old left-back in January and instead brought Norwich's Robbie Brady. However, Burnley's interest never waned and they are reportedly making moves to bring the Hull City man in this summer ahead of Liverpool.
Marco Verratti to Barcelona
Reports in L'Equipe claim Paris Saint-Germain playmaker Verratti has told the new director of football at the club, Antero Henrique, that he wants to leave. The 24-year-old Italian is a long-time transfer target for Barcelona and those at the Nou Camp are keeping an eye on proceedings as the situation unfolds. Barcelona are expected to submit a €100 million (£88m) bid for their top summer target to test the Ligue 1 club's determination to keep him in Paris.
Chris Smalling to Arsenal
Arsenal are keeping an eye on developments at Old Trafford with Victor Lindelof close to completing his £31m move from Benfica. That deal could see Smalling become surplus to requirements in Mourinho's squad and, according to reports in The Sun, Arsene Wenger wants to bring the former Fulham centre-back to the Emirates. The Arsenal manager has kept a close eye on the defender ever since he broke through and made a move for the England international before he signed for United back in 2010.
Stevan Jovetic to Newcastle United
TalkSport report that Newcastle are readying a move for Stevan Jovetic. Rafael Benitez is a long-term admirer of the Inter Milan forward, who spent time on loan at Sevilla last season, having tried to sign him while at Liverpool and then again when he was in charge of Napoli. The Spaniard is looking to add attacking reinforcements to his squad and the former Manchester City man's name has popped up once again.
Sergej Milinkovic-Savic to Liverpool
Corriere dello Sport aren't just claiming that Milinkovic-Savic is a transfer target for Liverpool, they're claiming the Merseyside club have already had a £25m offer turned down for the Lazio midfielder. A stumbling block for any potential move could be that the Rome-based club value the Serbian midfielder at closer to the £70m mark.
