Transfer Rater: Rodriguez to Man United, Mahrez to Tottenham

The latest transfer rumours from around the world.
The latest transfer rumours from around the world.

Things change in the blink of an eye in football. The Football Whispers Index takes the latest transfer rumours and gives them a score out of five; the higher the score, the more realistic and reliable the whisper.

Here are today's top five emerging whispers for the summer. And keep an eye on Transfer Talk for all the latest gossip.

James Rodriguez to Manchester United

According to ESPN FC sources, Manchester United have been offered the chance to sign Real Madrid's Rodriguez this summer. The Colombian has had a bit part role in the Spanish capital this season as both Isco and Marco Asensio have pushed him down the pecking order. He was a one-time target for Chelsea to replace Oscar but Rodriguez's agent, Jorge Mendes, also represents Jose Mourinho. A move to Old Trafford is the most likely one as the former Monaco midfielder looks for more playing time.

Efe Ambrose to Brighton

Own Goal Nigeria claim newly promoted Premier League side Brighton are interested in Celtic defender Efe Ambrose. The Nigerian has spent the season on loan at Hibernian and is said to favour a permanent move to Easter Road. However, Chris Hughton is hopeful the lure of Premier League football can attract the 28-year-old as he plans for life in the top flight.

Giannelli Imbula to Roma

Monchi has wasted no time highlighting his first bargain buy in his new role as Roma's sporting director. The mastermind behind Sevilla's success moved to the Italian capital recently and reports in the Daily Telegraph claim Stoke City's Imbula is the Giallorossi's top summer target. Mark Hughes is prepared to take an £8million hit on the club's record signing having been unimpressed with the former Marseille midfield destroyer since his £18m move to the Potters in January 2016.

Riyad Mahrez to Tottenham

According to reports in the Daily Telegraph, Leicester City's Mahrez wants to play Champions League football next season and the Foxes are prepared to let him leave the club. The Premier League champions value the Algerian at close to £30m and with both Spurs and Arsenal showing an interest, they're expected to have their valuation met. With those at White Hart Lane hoping for a better performance in the Champions League next season they need quality reinforcements. Mahrez ticks that box.

Shane Long to West Ham

West Ham are looking to add pace to their squad this summer. Reports in the Evening Standard claim the Hammers are eying up Southampton forward Long as Slaven Bilic looks to piece together a new-look attack ahead of next season. Long has been a bit-part player for the Saints this term and could look to move on in search of first-team football. The 30-year-old got into double figures last season but has netted just three this time around.
